Lianna Parker is taking us on a gentle cruise with some attractive re-group locations. Ladies’ Day will visit some places of importance to notable Western Australian women and places of importance to all women. Obviously this will feature chocolate, jewellery and the opportunity to be treated to lunch in a nice setting.

Lianna and Barrie Parker are organising the Ladies Day Cruise. A (legally) quick dash to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory in the Swan Valley for a morning coffee stop, hopefully arriving before the hordes in coaches arrive. Hint - if you want to buy chocolates take an esky to keep it cool during the drive -Barrie and Lianna didn’t!

Then a more leisurely drive to the Mundaring Arts Centre to view their jewellery exhibition (Boys - bring money; it already cost Barrie).

From Mundaring the drive will be along the Mundaring Weir Road in the opposite to normal direction before heading down the hill and into and through the city. From the Terraces we will drive through Kings Park pointing out some of the history of Western Australian women, before the short drive to the Parker’s house where there should be some bubbly and chocs for the girls (and guys - but you may want to BYO beer), plus some barbied nibbles and soft drinks.

If it is warm you may want to cool off in the pool. Total distance is ~106 km and with a 40 minute and a 20 minute stop, you should get to the Parker’s House around 1:30 pm.
Before and during the cruise Lianna and Barrie will be taking a collection for the Breast Cancer Foundation. Barrie is a director of a gold mining company, Saracen Minerals, operating a mine about 140km from Kalgoorlie. Recently the Mine Receptionist, a Kalgoorlie girl in her 30’s, was diagnosed with breast cancer and the company has organised a collection in response to her need for treatment, much of which will require her to travel to Perth.

For every $ collected, Saracen will donate an extra $. Half the total proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation, with the other half going towards the costs involved in Brigitte’s treatment. Lianna and Barrie will donate the money collected on the cruise to the Saracen collection. What this means to all who donate is that 100% of your donation goes to the Breast Cancer Foundation; while an other 100% goes towards helping a Kalgoorlie girl recover from this terrible disease.

For those not on the cruise who would like to make a donation, please contact treasurer@mx5club.com.au
