Sunday 29th of October 2023 - Sunday Arvo Scenic Waterfront Cruise + BBQ/Picnic

Join Sandra Price for a short leisurely late afternoon cruise around some beautiful Swan and Canning River waterfront roads to Wireless Hill Park in Ardross for a Picnic/BBQ in a beautiful 40 hectare natural bush area with shady picnic spots and walks, plus great views. Wireless Hill is the location of the former Applecross Wireless Station, one of Australia’s first links with radio technology, used for telecommunications during WW1 and WW2. The 1912 building is now preserved as a museum.

There are gas BBQ, some tables and benches at our destination, we suggest you bring a rug or chair just in case as well as some fruit, coffee, tea, orange juice, plates, cutlery, etc. Pack your choice of picnic food: sandwiches, pies, Scotch eggs, sausage rolls, chicken drumsticks and layer up a picnic baguette with salami, spinach, basil, pesto and mozzarella! Alternatively bring all the BBQ essentials: sausages, burgers, steak, fish, mushrooms, corn on the cob, salads, etc.

We meet at 3pm for a 3:30pm departure in the Roe car park, Forrest Drive, Kings Park, click here for a map. We should arrive at Wireless Hill for socialising and a picnic at around 4:45pm.
