CONCESSIONAL LICENSING
The MX-5 Club of WA Inc. participates in the Department of Transport's 'Concessions for Classics' (C4C) Concessional Licensing scheme for vehicles manufactured in a calendar year that will result in the vehicle being at least 30 years old at the start of the calendar year in which the discount would begin. A vehicle licensed under the C4C scheme can be used for a maximum of 90 days per calendar year, being:
- 60 days to participate in motoring club sanctioned club events; and
- 30 days for personal use, road testing, maintenance and repair.
To participate in the C4C scheme a vehicle owner must maintain their financial membership with a DoT approved motoring club such as the MX-5 Club of WA Inc. while receiving the C4C concession. Details of the scheme are available on the DoT website. A member wishing to participate in the C4C concession can download the Club's Concessions for Classics (C4C) Guide that outlines the processes for the registration of an MX-5 under the Concessions For Classics (C4C) vehicle registration scheme with the Mazda MX-5 Club of WA Inc. (Club) as your DoT approved motoring club.
The MX-5 Club of WA Inc. does not participate in the Department of Transport's "Code 404" Concessional Licensing scheme for vehicles no less than 25 years old facilitated by the Council of Motoring Clubs. This scheme requires vehicles conform to the manufacturer's original specifications and modifications (interior, ICE, suspension, rims, muffler, roll bars, etc.) of vehicles licensed with a 404 concession code are not permitted. The MX-5 Club of WA decided not to support the "Code 404" Concessional Licensing scheme as there so few unmodified 25+ year old MX-5s that would warrant the club to:
- record all vehicle trips in the club's official "Run Log"
- inspect the vehicle and declare that the vehicle is not modified
- carry the additional insurance related to the vehicle inspection
