Sunday 11th of August 2019 - Shannons Classics on the Park

This year is the 15th Anniversary of Targa West.

As with the 2018 event, this year’s Shannons’ Classics on the Park will be held on the Riverside Drive verge. This will give attendees a much better view of the Targa West closing event.

One of the highlights will be John Ireland from Sydney in a 2017 Dodge Viper which came 5th in Targa Tasmania earlier this year. David Heaton will be in a new Nissan Nismo GT-R; Mark Cates will be in the fastest car in Targa Tasmania a 2017 Porsche GT3 RS; Peter Rullo has entered but his new car hasn’t yet been announced; Peter Major will be back in the winning car from last year; Nathan Ellement is importing a classic Corvette; Paul Pernechelle is also coming back in his Ford GTHO, the Mustangs have entered plus plenty of Evo’s and all the regulars.

The organisers will also be running the LF Performance Targa City Sprint in the morning.

An estimated 500 cars, bikes and boats will on display or competing. Non-sporting stunning cars for show and shine will be displayed in the Shannons 'Classics on the Park' category. Sporting cars of any time will be under 'Celebration of Motorsport'. The fastest vehicle on display in the Celebration of Motorsport will be “Banshee” (formally known as "Aussie Invader IV", the Australian contender for the World Land Speed Record.

In the past this has provided an opportunity for the Club to have a small marquee and BBQ at the event, giving us some publicity and generating interest from the public.

Lyall Tilson and Jason James have volunteered to run this event.

The organisers advise: -

- the event is open to exhibitors from 0800, who are requested to have their cars in position by 0930;
- the earliest exit for exhibitors will be 1500.
