Sunday 2nd of June 2013 - Monthly Cruise – York

This month Steve Harris is taking us to the historic town of York via some nice twisties including a regrouping stop at the famous Baker’s Hill Pie Shop.

We park at the York Mill Markets which feature 43 undercover stalls with local preserves, crafts, fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing for all ages, skincare products, candles, soy products and much, much more.

Whilst in York visit the York Motor Museum; one of the finest private collections of Veteran, Vintage, Classic and Racing Cars in Australia.

For something different visit the York Courthouse Complex; the museum’s 1840s buildings include two courtrooms, police station, troopers cottage, gaol cells and stable yard.

Unfortunately, the advertised York Gourmet Food and Wine Festival has relocated to Northam for 2013 and become the ‘Avon Valley Gourmet Food & Wine Festival’.

For those who wish to visit it on the way home its open until 4pm at the brand new, state of the art Northam Recreation Centre and showcases a huge range of food and wine from all over WA and some from abroad, and amazing fresh produce from the Avon Valley with around 80 stalls to browse through. Products include Wines, Chilli, Yabbies, Cheeses, Jams, Pickles, Exotic Spices, Sauces, Nuts, Chocolate, Beer and much more.

The vast majority of things on the program are included in the entry charge of $10 per adult. There are small fees associated with some of the high end alcohol tastings.

We meet at the usual Burswood location (Click here to view a map) at 9AM for a 9:30 AM start.
